In a 24 hour news cycle it seems that we are constantly bombarded with news. Often it seems like the same stories are told and retold. Sometimes the news, often seems to be the same old.
Still, many stories fall by the wayside. Just outside the frame through which we see the world around us. These are the stories the SoundStream Media picks up. From the shady dealings of a Luxembourgian bank to the disgruntled Girl-Scouts of the USA; the SoundStream Media picks up the sub-plots of the news cycle. We dig into them to widen our frame and knowledge of the world.
Season 1 available on spotify!
Featuring Lisa Dupuy
The complete story behind the Side Stream Media episode: Banque Havilland. A story about bankers, royalty and football.
This premiere episode owes a lot to our first guest Lisa Dupuy! An actual journalist! Specializing mostly in conflict, big weapons and all those Christmassy vibes. Who has been wonderful enough to indulge me in this first step into the podcasting ocean. Please do check out her and Daniel Maissan’s amazing project at: https://www.meetingabraham.com/
Obviously there is a lot to be improved here at the Sound Stream but starting is the first step to a brilliant finish!
Featuring Jules Stuyt
The complete story behind “Turkish dislike”. A year in review for Turkish diplomacy (and a little bit of human rights). A fascinating topic worthy of a the amazing person that is Jules Stuyt. My one and only pod-daddy or pod father, the masterpodder if you will.
If you like Economic zones, natural gas or the Ottoman empire then you will love this; if not, what is wrong with you? Anyway welcome once more to the Sound Stream!
Featuring Daan Leermakers
I am joined this episode by the most important guitarist in my life, the past and the future of my music career, my extraordinary friend Daan Leermakers. A magnificent man to join me in a difficult story.
This story is though as we deal with the Boy Scouts of America. The finances, the abuse and the war they are currently engaged in.
Maybe not as jolly as always but certainly not less educational! So tie some knots and strap in!
Featuring Maurits Cleveringa
I am excited to introduce the world to the amazing pod-guest qualities of my good friend Maurits Cleveringa. He is kind, he is smart and he is the only friend ever to send me socks in dark times.
This time he helps me navigate the dangerous paths of Ladakh region in the western Himalaya. Brawl have broken out between India and China. We look at the history, the weaponry and the implications of this conflict. I am terribly excited to share this conversation so please join us on the road to Ladakh!
Featuring Joel Azose
Joining me this episode for a deep dive into the murky waters of foreign far-right election interference in Europe is my old friend Joel Azose. You can wake me up at six to have a conversation with this considerate, ragingly intelligent and all round lovely man. Our conversation lasted a bit longer than I expected so I have cut the episode in two. (Something I might do more often in the future.) This is the first half of a conversation that, I for one, enjoyed the living daylights out of.
In part one we talk about the role of 4chan and 8chan in the Italian elections, the World Congress of Families and some organization theory for good measure! Please join us and take care to enjoy the exploration of the far-right international.
Featuring Joel Azose
The second part of my wonderful conversation with Joel Azose. A conversation about the far-right international. The second half is a more free-form discussion. We start with election finance and we talk about racism and democracy and all the other things! A conversation that I had much joy recording, I hope some of it transmits to you.
